Assoc Prof Carolyn and Assoc Prof Doug Lording are part of the T4DM research project, an Australian wide study looking at the effects of testosterone therapy in addition to diet and exercise in preventing Type 2 diabetes in men with Pre-Diabetes.
Recruitment closed at the end of February 2017 and with over 1000 participants this is the largest study worldwide to examine the role of testosterone therapy in this group of men. Results from the study will be available later in the year.
Dr Kavita Kumareswaran and Sue Wyatt (diabetes educator) are recruiting patients with type 1 diabetes for the Artificial Pancreas study. This is a nationwide randomised controlled study evaluating use of a closed loop system combining insulin delivery via a pump with continuous glucose monitoring in an automated manner. Patients will wear the devices at home continuously for a six month period.
